Financial contributors

The main funding for NNP is a 51.4 MNOK infrastructure grant from the Research Council of Norway. The grant was used to buy the three high-field NMR spectrometers, with one spectrometer placed at each of three NNP nodes. In addtion to the three main instrument, several other NMR spectrometers were bought or upgrades by the respective universities, including UiT.

In 2017 a new 600 MHz was included in NNP at the UiB node. This spectrometer was funded by Bergen Research Foundation,  Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og FjordaneHelse Bergen, and University of Bergen.

Acknowledgments

All publications with results from NNPs infrastructure must include an acknowledgment directed to the relevant funding bodies, and add project number of NNP under Funding when registrering in Cristin Reference to the publication and the PDF file should be sent to the NNP manager. Publications should preferably be “open access”.

800 MHz and 850 MHz

The 800 and 850 MHz spectrometers were purchased with funds from the Research Council of Norway (RCN), therefore all publications with results from these instruments must include an acknowledgment directed to RCN for funding, e. g.:

"This work was partly supported by the Research Council of Norway through the Norwegian NMR Platform, NNP (226244/F50).”

When registrering publications in Cristin you have to include the RCN, with only the numbers "226244" and "Research Council of Norway"/"Norges forskningsråd" under "Project code"/"Prosjektkode" under "Funding"/"Finansiering":

600 MHz at UiB

The 600 MHz was purchased party with funds from the Bergen Research Foundation and Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og Fjordane, therefore all publications with results from the 600 MHz must include an acknowledgment directed to them for funding, e. g.:

"This work was partly supported by Bergen Research Foundation (BFS-NMR-1) and Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og Fjordane (509-42/16).”

When registrering publications in Cristin, under "Project code"/"Prosjektode" you have to include Bergen Research Foundation with the project code "BFS-NMR-1" and Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og Fjordaner with the code "509-42/16":

850 MHzThe Norwegian NMR Platform (NNP) is a national infrastructure platform funded by the Research Council of Norway. It was established in 2015 and was originally a collaboration between UiB, UiO, and NTNU

In 2022, NNP got additional funding (NNP-2) and was expanded to include UiT and SINTEF.

The main purpose of NNP is to provide access to modern, high-field NMR spectrometers for researchers and industry in Norway.

The Norwegian NMR Platform

The Norwegian NMR Platform is a national infrastructure platform, hosted by the Department of Chemistry, University of Bergen, in collaboration with UiO, NTNU and UiT. The instrumentation consists of one 850 MHz at UiB and two 800 MHz spectrometers at UiO and NTNU. The 800 MHz spectrometers at UiO and NTNU were installed in the Autumn 2015, while the 850 MHz at UiB was installed Spring 2016. The package also includes several lower field spectrometers, not administered by NNP, at the four universities.

The new platform provides a much needed and anticipated upgrade in the Norwegian NMR infrastructure, bringing Norway back on level with the rest of Europe. The NMR researchers will with the new equipment be able to study more complex systems, e.g. larger proteins.

The establishment of the Norwegian NMR Platform was made possible by the collaboration between UiB, UiO, and NTNU.  The writing group consisting of Frode Rise (UiO), Øyvind Halskau (UiB), and Finn L. Aachmann (NTNU) has, together with project manager Willy Nerdal, been essential in the application process.

In October 2017 the NNP instrument park was expanded with the installation of a new 600 MHz spectrometer in the NNP building at UiB. The spectrometer was funded by Bergen Research Foundation,  Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og Fjordane, Helse Bergen, and University of Bergen.
